Objectives: Calculate the total percentage of each planet in relation to the whole given the diameter and develop a scale model of planet sizes (MS-ESS1-2 & MS-ESS1-3)
-Students calculated the percentage of each planet and started on a scaled model for the planets in the Solar System. We will continue this on Monday.

-Those who wanted the recipe for the playdough will find it here: Playdough. Prepare to continue with the model and do some more calculations on Monday!

Objectives: Finish quilt presentations, describe Solar System formation, the sun and planets, and their relationship to Earth, and start on calculating the total percentage of each planet in relation to the whole given the diameter (MS-ESS1-2 & MS-ESS1-3).

-Students worked in groups to do a vocabulary concept sort. This will help them study for the quiz on Friday. We will continue that tomorrow and work on our mini vocabulary project.

We discussed and reviewed some Milky Way facts and answered students' Parking Lot questions. Students should have cut and glue their materials in their INB. If you have not, finish them over break!
HOMEWORK: All due Monday, February 27th.

-Finish cutting/gluing materials.

-If you did not get a chance to watch the video on The Milky Way, please do so. Also, a worksheet was passed out in class. As you watch, fill in the answers. Anyone who was absent can download the file below for the homework assignment. Worksheet is due on Monday, February 13th.
-Look to the skies tonight! Around 7:43PM, something spectacular will happen. Also, on Saturday at 3AM, you can also see something else =)! Check it out! Enjoy and have a great weekend, 6th grade ASTRONOMERS!!
