It helps build intrinsic motivation and engagement that allows students to construct their understanding.

Tam Viet Project
2016 Jacket Distribution in Vietnam:
During the initial months of 2016, Vietnam saw one of its coldest winters where areas reached -2Celsius! To reboot the initial aspirations of providing winter jackets to children in Vietnam (which started in 2006), a coalition between DoMiFa Music School & TÂM VIỆT Project with the slogan, Hòn Đá Làm Ra Lửa came together to raise funds and distributed 200 jackets to elementary school students in Thượng Giáp commune located in Na Hang District in Tuyên Quang Province, Vietnam.
Hòn Đá Làm Ra Lửa roughly translates to stone creates fire which has its meaning in the necessity of at least two stones to make fire--thus, it does not take only one person or one entity to achieve success, but a collaboration between and amongst one another to achieve real, long-lasting and sustainable effects. The meaning also calls upon both people in and out of Vietnam to come together and raise funds for the most needed children of Vietnam.
Na Hang is a rural district located in the northern highlands of Vietnam with a population of about 66,500 (2003 Census) of which mostly consists of ethnic minorities such as the Tay, Dao and San Chay peoples. Not so far from the border of China, Na Hang consists of various mountain ranges, deep valleys, and known for its deep slopes. Its location with the recent hit of winter made it a prime location for scouting out and eventually carrying out our jacket project.
On February 29th, four of our amazing members, Đào Minh Pha (founder of DoMiFa), Bùi Hoàng Dũng, Nguyễn Minh Giang (UCHANU 2010), and Lê Văn Vĩ (UCHANU 2010), made their way by train, bus and motorbike to Na Hang carrying loads of jackets to two elementary schools: Hồng Thái Elementary & Middle School (Trường Tiểu Học & THCS Hồng Thái) and Thượng Giáp Elementary & Middle School (Trường Tiểu Học & THCS Thượng Giáp). Those schools consisted of students from 1st to 5th grades. Each school received 100 winter jackets.
